BYE BYE SUMMER, HELLO FALL : New Makeup + Skincare

I can’t believe we are saying goodbye to the blazing heat in Ottawa and shifting our thoughts to PSL, pumpkin pies and riding boots! Fall is on the horizon and I am not sure how I feel about that, however, since your an avid reader of my blog you probably already know how much I look forward to switching up my makeup and skincare products with each season.  Fall 2018 is the season I amp up my skincare and become more adventurous with my makeup looks! Here are the Fall products I’m loving and living for!

    FALL SKINCARE AND MAKEUP photos

Skincare for me is so essential. I have friends that don’t use any skincare and I’m shocked and ask myself :

#1 – how are we friends again?  and

#2 – so you like aging rapidly?

    Nope sorry. Not I.

I am a strong believer that skincare can and will help you slow down the aging process ( of course eating healthy, drinking  loads of water , minimizing stress also help 🙂 ).

This is why I religiously wash, exfoliate, serum and moisturize every morning and night!

I was happy to receive the Rodial Dragons Blood Micellar cleansing water and Dragon’s Blood essence mist to help me NOT age rapidly 🙂. I’m a huge fan of this brand because they use innovative ingredients in their products that actually work great together to deliver results.

    The cleansing water contains

Rose water to cleanse and refresh skin,

Vitamin b3 to helps brighten skin,

    and

Hyalronic acid to lock in hydration while preventing moisture loss while helping plump up the skin.

This is now the first step in my morning and night routine, I dampen a cotton pad and wipe off my makeup. I like to use another cotton pad soaked in the cleansing water a second time to ensure everything is removed. I’m just paranoid like this! Give this a try if your looking

The Dragons blood essence mist is a triple threat. It can be used as

    Makeup Primer,

    Setting Spray,

    Serum substitute

Truthfully, I use this mist as a setting spray only and I love it! I love how with one pump I get so much mist and it absorbs into my skin quickly and leaves it really refreshed, glow-y , and helps my makeup stay. On really hot days when I’ve worn makeup I’ve spray the essence mist on to freshen up my look. I love his spray. I didn’t know that it comes in a mini size, but now that I do know this I’ll be buying it in mini so I can carry it around in my makeup bag this Fall.

“Born This Way” medium to full coverage foundation from Too Faced is the fist product I’ve tried from this brand. I didn’t really know what to expect because all the reviews have been amazing for this foundation, but of course I needed to form my own opinion.

Day 1 wearing this foundation wasn’t the greatest experience. I felt it oxidized rather quickly and by the time I got home that day it didn’t look like I had any foundation on. My face looked rather dull.  I instantly regretted buying it, but I said I would have another go at it as almost everyone I know has loved it from the get-go!

Day 2 was better. I realized on Day 2 that on Day 1 wasn’t wearing any of  my usual skincare ( testing out some PR products) and the products did NOTHING for my skin and made my skin look really dull, dry and just plain gross! If your skin prep is off even using a foundation made with the tears of the last unicorn wouldn’t make your skin look good!

Day 3 I realized why I didn’t like the foundation as much as I thought I would. I wasn’t pumping enough foundation onto my brush. 2 pumps of the “Born This Way” foundation was not enough for my liking so I tried 3.5 pumps and VOILA, it was magic! Thank god this product is buildable. After trial and error I finally found the right ratio of pumps for my liking and I have to say I am IN LOVE with this foundation. It covered imperfections beautifully and gave me a semi – matte look. I just hope going into the colder months it holds up!

My skin in natural light wearing “Born This Way” Too Faced foundation.

Esqido is a brand that I was introduced to this year when they sent me their best selling lashes to experiment with. You can read my thoughts on the lashes  here.

They recently sent me their new gel liners in brown and black . Esqido gel liners are no joke folks ! They are

    long lasting.

    glide smoothly,

     have great colour payoff,

    and

    formulated without latex,sulphates and parabens.

The liners have a twist dispenser and a precision sharpener.

    FALL SKINCARE AND MAKEUP photos

I’m a big fan of lining the inner eyelids and sometimes I find that some eyeliners don’t glide on smoothly in that area so I end up tugging a bit on the lid to ensure I get the liner in place, but with the Esqido liners there was no need to tug as the liner glided on effortlessly! The black liner is really a rich black and you can create a long lasting cat eye with minimum effort.

I used to be obsessed with the MAC lip liners. Soar was my absolute favourite as it matched all my lipsticks. I was never crazy about paying $22 for a lip liner but I did anyway because there wasn’t any other product I liked more until I started using the NYX Suede Matte Lip Liners! I FREAKING love them ! I’m sure I’ve blogged about them before but I wanted to reiterate in this post how amazing these $6 lip liners are.

Going into Fall, matte shades are a must for me so I picked up Dainty Daze ( shown below) and KYOTO. I like to line my lips first and then shade the top and lower lip with the liner, then apply the lipstick. I find it lasts longer and deepens the colour of the lipstick. For $6 you cannot go wrong with this amazing liner!

    FALL SKINCARE AND MAKEUP photos

I don’t usually talk about hair care on the blog,  but I really should as I get asked all the time what I use on my curly, and unruly hair!

If there is one product I can’t live without to tame my hair it would have to be the Kérastase Nutritive K Oléo-Relax serum ( some people call it an oil but I don’t like to call it that).I have been using this serum for years and years. It’s an amazing product that can be used on your hair wet or dry, curly or straight , frizz or no frizz. It can be used to add shine to your hair or use it for it’s original purpose which is to control frizz.

I have repurchased this product at least 4 times and lasts me about a year. I only use one or two pumps depending on the length of my hair at that time. When I wear my hair curly , I apply the serum to my wet hair before applying any styling products. When I wear my hair straight, I apply one pump before and after styling.  This is my HG for taming my frizz! I know it carries a steep price ( $45 ) but it is well worth it for me as it lasts me a whole year!

Say Hello To My Spring Loves: Makeup + Skin Care

    photo of makeup and skincare

With a new season comes new makeup!

As you can see my obsession with Charlotte Tilbury ( and roses lol) continues well into Spring. I’ve accumulated quite a collection of CT makeup and I can’t decide what product I love most…the lipsticks, glosses or shadows .

Who am I kidding, I love them all.

Mid February I had the opportunity to try out the CT Magic foundation for the first time. Besides the fact that the Medium shade is a bit too dark for my skin tone, I was overall impressed with it. It applied nicely on the skin and gave me about a good 8-10 hours of wear.. Applying it for the first time I saw why CT calls it “Magic Foundation”, it hides blemishes and covers up redness on the skin surprisingly well !

Even though this is a full coverage foundation it didn’t feel like I was wearing a mask ,in fact it blended beautifully on my skin! I’ll have to wear the foundation more in the summer since it is a bit dark for me right now, I hope with a light tan it will fit me perfectly. If you are a fan of Estee Lauder double wear then you will LOVE this foundation. They are my top 2 but CT is just perfect for a natural Spring look!

photo of skin care products to use in the Spring

Light Wonder Medium #7 has been my got-to day wear since mid February. Light Wonder is not a typical  foundation, I would consider it to be a really good tinted moisturizer. It is buildable, and gives a natural coverage and makes your skin super hydrated so if you have oily skin, this may not be the foundation for you.  If you have dry or normal skin , this will work wonders for you! Since the foundation contains Pseudo-ceramides,  it illuminates the skin quite a bit to give you a nice all day lasting glow. I’ve become a bit obsessed with it and I just wish the bottle was a bit bigger ( 1.4 fl oz) as I have gone through it fairly quickly…oops!

After I use Light Wonder I like to powder my T-zone and cheeks a bit so I started using the CT Airbrush Flawless Finish in Medium shade. This sheer pressed powder not only looks like a million bucks it really feels like it on the skin. It’s buildable and  leaves skin glowing without a shimmery look to it.

I apply this powder throughout the day and it never looks cakey. For even distribution of the fine powder you can use a brush or a sponge but my preference is a big fluffy brush. CT claims that it blurs out pores and fine lines, I think that is true to an extent but only when I use the Magic foundation underneath this powder. Still, one of the best powders I have used in a long time and highly recommend the invest.

The first product I fell in love with from the CT brand was their eyeshadows.  They are long lasting, versatile (apply less or more and they still look good) and they come in so many glorious colour ranges. I love that each quad has an all over shade, a crease shade, a lid shade, and a “outer v” for the eyes. Any newbie can pick up a quad and use it, it really is simple. But what I love most is you can wear these colours day and night. For day wear, obviously, be light handed when applying and for night wear go all out…smoke that colour out baby!!!

If you have never heard of Rocky Mountain Soap Company (RMSC), where you been hiding love?

They have some of the best natural, organic skincare and body care products I have ever tried. My new favourites are the Beech Tree Bud  eye cream and the Sugar Scrub.

The eye cream is 100 % natural, toxin and paraben free and can be used day and night to get rid of puffiness and regenerate the skin under the eyes. It’s very light in texture and has a faint fragrance to it.

The Sugar scrub is my new BFF in the shower! It’s 94% organic and 100% natural and Toxin free and smells of French Lavender! Basically  heaven in a bottle! It’s the perfect exfoliant in preparation for sundress season!! The Wellness bath salts are great to use in the tub to relax your body after a long day!

After I exfoliate with the sugar scrub I spritz the vanilla coconut body oil. It’s 85% organic and 100% natural and toxin free. I am usually not a fan of body oils because I find they don’t seep into the skin quickly and I feel greasy. The RMSC body oil is the complete opposite. It not only smells great but it absorbs into your skin quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.

Quick tip for you: If you feel like your catching a cold, you need to reach for the RMSC Wellness Balm – Breath easy to relive cough and cold symptoms. Spritz a few drops onto your fingers and massage onto the temples and back of neck and other pulse areas to relive the symptoms. This liquid balm is loaded with eucalyptus and rosemary so you know they ain’t playing around!!!

photo of skin care products to use in the Spring

I have a love affair with Pixi Beauty and the Rose Flash Balm is the newest addition to my pixie lineup! It can be used as a mask +moisturizer+primer. I have only used it as a primer + moisturizer. It ‘s a lightweight moisturizer and can be used underneath makeup.  If after the cold months you are in dire need of a skin pick me up , grab this oil free balm and slather it on. Works great to brighten and revitalize the skin and it’s loaded with roses so you know it has to be good 🙂

The last 2 products are from Nip+Fab I have already discussed in this post here.  but I wanted to include them as they have become a staple for me during the winter and I will be using them still this spring.!! They are really inexpensive and work so so  well!

Usually if I don’t like a product I have no problem returning the item BUT sometimes I get a bit too lazy to make it back to the store or it’s an online purchase and I don’t want to waste more money returning it, so I end up blogging about my experience! Win -Win I say!

    PIXI BEAUTY LOVE!

    Pixi Beauty Product photo

I’ve discussed Pixi Beauty on my blog before , but I wanted to dedicate another post to them because #1 I love their products  and #2 they are against animal testing, and I’m trying to make a conscious effort to feature more brands in this category!  I have highlighted a few of their products that I’m currently using and loving in this post.

The Geltint & Silkgloss set were sent to me as a PR sample by Pixi ( #thankful). I threw one of them in my gym bag, the other in my work bag and the other is on my desk in my office, you know in case I want to freshen’ up at some time during one of my late night blogging sessions!

One side of the stick is the Tint and the other side is the Gloss. The tint is so subtle and adds a nice dose of color to your lips. , I found the tint somewhat hydrating but not too much. The gloss adds more hydration and compliments the tint. The gloss is not sticky and fragrance free. As both products deliver a light dose of colour to the lips, they are totally buildable and can be worn during the day or night if you prefer for a polished look.

Peel & polish is also another PR sample from Pixi. This enzyme peel can be used 2-3 times a week to help you reveal smoother more radiant looking skin.  It  will polish away all dry skin cells and impurities that have built up on your skin. The peel is made with natural fruit enzymes that help exfoliate  the skin in a very gentle manner.

I think the one product most people are curious about when I bring up Pixi is the glow tonic. For those who haven’t tried it yet ( not sure what your waiting for), it’s a glycolic acid toner that exfoliates and purifies the skin for a more radiant complexion. I use it every other night before I apply my night moisturizer, but it’s safe to use everyday. Love this stuff!

Pixi collaborated with 4 amazing beauty and lifestyle influencers. First up is their collaboration with influencer Maryam Maquillage. She’s such a doll and I always admired her so when the two teamed up I was so excited to see what the collaboration would be. Of course it’s the very popular Glow & Bronze palette. The highlighters are very wearable and more on the natural side which I adore! It’s very versatile and used it everyday this past Summer to add a sun kissed glow to my face.

Pixi also has a collaboration with influencer Aspynovard. Together they created a set of highlighters and  blush .I own Rome Rose blush. It’s the perfect peachy shimmery blush that I also wore the majority of the Summer. It really gives a natural flushed look to your skin. As much as I layered the blush I never felt it was overdone and blends beautifully on the skin.

The last product I own is from influencer Judy from ” It’s Judy Time”. Together these powerhouses came up with not one but two crazy popular palettes ; Get The Look : ITSEYETIME and ITSLIPTIME. One is an eye shadow palette and the other is a lip palette, obviously!  I have not had the chance to try the lip palette yet but I have used the eye shadow palette many times! The palette has 12 shades, mostly neutral , some shimmery but the majority are matte. I love that they included a mix of shimmery and matte shades. It makes the palette so versatile and worth spending the dollar bills on !! Right? I can’t ever see myself buying a palette with just shimmery shades or matte shades. It has to give a wide range of possibilities so you can come up with various looks using only one palette. The ITSEYETIME definitely delivers in that department. The shadows themselves are smooth almost buttery and blend really well. My favourite shade is Honey Bear. I use it as a transition shade and sometimes I just wear it all over my lid for a more “laid back I but still got my stuff together look”

Here I used ITSEYETIME palette to create this look. I used Honey Bear and Bubbly to create a very wearable everyday look. It literally took me 2 minutes to apply the shadows.  I saturated my brush with Honey Bear + Bubbly and one quick sweep over my eyelids was all it took. I decided to be a bit more dramatic, but still wearable , and swiped the colours on the bottom as well. I also used the Rome Rose blush to accentuate my cheekbones and cheeks. I freaking love this blush, pardon my language , but it’s so darn nice. It looks like I have a nice flush to my face with just the right amount of colour. Very wearable and low maintenance for this mom of 3!

Rejuvenate Your Look This Season With My Autumn Favourites!

    Well hi there!

Yes, it’s been a long time since we last spoke my dear friends 🙂

I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve missed blogging and interacting with you all!

Just a quick update on my life so far. As some of you noticed, I hope all of you noticed, my blog has been a bit dry lately. Trust me, it was not done intentionally…well it kind of was but it was for the best …trust me again. I was on an intensive course for 10 months that required  100% of my attention. Thankfully after loads of coffee, long sleepless nights , some tears and many missed family gatherings I can say I was successful and this opportunity has opened many doors for me. I’m so blessed and happy that it is now behind me and I can now concentrate, once again, on the things I love like family , makeup, blogging about makeup and eating good food…in that exact order 🙂

( I have to warn you, there is a lot of content in this blog post because I thought since I’ve been MIA I owed you a good read ! So go ahead grab a cup of coffee, tea, wine and get comfy because this one is worth the wait! )

So now we’re deep into October and just last week it started to feel like Autumn in Ottawa. I spent a whole day switching out my closet to warm, cozy sweaters, boots, and scarfs and of course I didn’t neglect my makeup and skincare stash!

Every new season I incorporate a few new items to my makeup and skincare routine and this season is no exception.

Let me introduce you to just a few of the new Caryl Baker Visage Nirvana fall collection. The whole collection has the deep rich pigmented fall colours that we all love like the coppers, golds, deep reds and burgundies. Perfect for Autumn !

I’ve used the CBV makeup in the past and loved it and this collection is perfection. So far I’ve used Faith, Shrine, and Stone eye shadows as well as Good Vibes lip lacquer. The shadows are pigmented ,long lasting with or without primer, but since I’m a creature of habit I always prime my lids regardless! I would have to say that Faith is my favourite shade. I use it as a base or worn alone for a romantic look. Stone has to be the deepest black I’ve tried. I compare the depth of black on Stone to the Inglot Cosmetics Gel liner pot, which in my opinion, is the blackest gel liner on the market so far. It’s that black! Shrine is gold perfection. It’s what I call a true gold. Not a yellow gold but more of a copper gold which I love!

The Good Vibes lip lacquer is the essential lip colour for fall. It’s a deep plum that dries on matte and hydrates the lips. You will probably get a good 5 hour wear before you may need to reapply. I paired Good Vibes with a basic smokey eye using Stone and Shrine on the lower lash and the look was fire!  I’m really interested in trying the shade Lava which is a coral red lip lacquer. Two great colours for fall!

Next up is my favourite makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury’s uber successful Hollywood collection which includes contour / highlight wands as well as matte liquid lipsticks. Of course I gravitate towards the lip products because I’m such a lip product junkie. Showcased here are Hollywood lips in Pin Up Pink and Rising Star. Both shades are more on the neutral side which I adore in any season! The staying power on the Hollywood Lip glosses are ridiculous … in a good way! I also love that they contain beeswax to ensure your lips stay hydrated as many matte products dry out your lips. The lip wand is shaped in a crescent to mimic the natural curves of the lip for easier application. This is genius!

I also have the Hollywood Contour wand in a medium – dark shade. It is the perfect contour shade for my olive skin, however I’ve only used it once straightly from the tube and the other 5 or 6 times I’ve used the contour wand I had to dispense the product on the back of my hand and then onto a brush to apply. I feel like the wand dispenses too much product at once. Other than that I love this contour wand and it’s so compact that you can literally throw it in any bag and take it with you. If you are light-handed with this product it will last you a looong time!

Makeup forever is one of my go-to trusted makeup brands. My pro kit is 80% makeup forever so of course I had to try the new Artist Face powders. I’ve tried out Gold Copper and Shimmery Champagne. This product is so multipurpose. I’ve used both shades as a top coat for eye shadow to add extra “pop” to  a look (kind of like glitter). You can also use them as highlighters and if I had the right shade I could have used them as a blusher !

This past Summer I started using the Dermologica Daily Superfoliant to get rid of the dead skin cells that build up over time and it worked really well so I ‘m going to continue to use it this Fall as well. The superfoliant is a powder and once you add water it becomes a paste that is gentle enough to use everyday and I truly use it everyday. My face feels so fresh and so clean after.

Another daily product that I now love and simply have to add to my skincare routine is the Vichy Pureté Thermal cleansing gel as well as the Vichy LIFTACTVE Vitamin C hydraulic acid for intense anti aging benefits. The cleansing gel is now in my top 5  must have products of all time. I knew it was a good cleanser once it passed my cotton round test.

What’s the cotton test you ask? Great question! I knew I had smart readers 🙂

The cotton test is when you take a cotton round and after washing with a cleanser and drying your face, you take a cotton round and swipe it on your forehead. If you have any dirt or impurities that come off on the cotton round than the cleanser is no bueno ( not good in Spanish) , however if you swipe and nothing comes off onto the cotton round then you have yourself a winning cleanser! This is my cotton round test! Go ahead , it’s yours to use. As well, I think it’s really important to mention that my skin did not dry out after using the cleansing, actually it felt really fresh and radiant.

The Vichy LIFTACTIVE Vitamin C is not going to be for everyone. Some of you may find it too strong for your skin, but my skin absolutely loves it! As soon as I apply the Vitamin C it seeps into my skin without any irritation.  I wanted to add a Vitamin C product to my routine because I am so sick of my brown / sun spots that have formed these past 2 years. I’ve used the LIFTACTIVE Vitamin C for a few weeks now and it seems to be diminishing the brown spots. They are still there but it looks like they are less visible. For sure I’m gong to keep using the product until these darn brown spots are no more!!  As well this product is great for lifting and plumbing your skin so you look more awake and youthful!!

Since I’m still loving the Rocky Mountain Soap Co. products I definitely wanted to include them in this post, but if you want an in-depth review of these products you can read all about them here.  Same goes for the Ordinary products that have literally saved my skin this Summer. You can read about those products here.

That’s a wrap on my Autumn favourites! Again, Thank you guys for supporting  my blog and I am so happy to be back sitting in front of my computer, with a bowl of vegan mint chocolate chip ice cream and blogging about what I love most! Thank you so much !

Worth the hype? Deciem, The Abnormal Beauty Company!

    Deciem Haul

    The Ordinary Haul

This post is long overdo I know! This so far has been one of my most requested post this year. I don’t blame you all for being so curious about Deciem! This cruelty free Toronto based brand is so popular among millennials that their “The Ordinary foundation” had a 25,000 person wait list! That is insane! Their packaging is no fuss, simple, clean and to the point.

Deciem “the abnormal beauty company”  as they lighthearttly call themselves introduced their current line of serums and foundation under The Ordinary umbrella to major success! This line introduced high coverage foundation for $7 and serums for under $15. How do they do this and do the products work? The founder Brandon Truaxe explained that because of the low number of ingredients in each product, it is possible to produce and sell affordable skincare to the masses.  Of course I was intrigued so I placed my order as quickly as possible. I waited 5 weeks for my products to be shipped because the company was out of stock…hello wait list ! Fair enough. I wanted to get my hands on these foundations that some were saying online could be considered life changing. Really..life changing? Well I had to see for  myself so bring it on Deciem!

I ordered the following from Deciem:

100% Plant -Derived Squalane  is a hydrator which is found naturally in the skin. You would use Squalane if you want to increase hydration or prevent depletion of hydration in your skin.  You can also use this product on your hair to prevent breakage and add shine.100% Plant Derived Squalene

    100% Plant Derived Squalane, $8

My thoughts:  I found that the Squalane did a great job ensuring my skin stayed hydrated. I was so surprised that the Squalane only had one ingredient listed .. Squalane!. That’s all there is to it. It doesn’t get more simple than that. I used it every day before I applied my moisturizer. I found the best way to apply this emollient is to place the dropper directly on your face, but not touching your face. Applying the product on your hand first,  I found, was wasteful because it has a runny consistently and is absorbed quickly into any surface it touches.  I only  have a bit left in the bottle so I placed an order for 2 more bottles.

Argireline Solution 10% is clear lightweight Serum with 10% Argireline Peptide Complex. Argireline benefits the areas on the face that are prone to folds (wrinkles!!) such as eyes and the forehead area. To use, apply a few drops on the forehead and around the eyes twice daily.

    Argireline Solution 10% photo

    Argireline Solution 10% $8

My thoughts: The solution feels like water on the face. It’s extremely lightweight and odourless. I was skeptical at first because I have never tired a serum that basically looked like water but I was assured that it wasn’t water. In one and half months time I had used up the whole bottle as I used it religiously every morning ( before the Squalene in the morning ) and night.  I can’t say that I see a dramatic difference in the minor crows fee that I have around my eyes but I do feel it has diminished them slightly. I believe if I had another bottle of the Argireline Solution 10%I would have seem a greater difference but I didn’t plan ahead of time to order a bottle. I am now awaiting my 2nd and 3rd bottle to arrive! At $8 per bottle it’s so affordable to give it another chance.

High-Spreadability Fluid Primer  is from the Ordinary Colours line under Deciem and is made up of high flexibility silicones that help hydrate the skin and give an overall dewy look. Used as a makeup primer it ensures long lasting makeup wear and Ordinary Colours claims that this primer helps spread your makeup evenly to avoid blotchiness.

Ordinary Colours High Spreadability Fluid Primer photo

    High-Spreadability Fluid Primer, $8

My thoughts: My first reaction was ” holy heck this is good”! It took me a few days to understand why I loved this primer so much. It’s almost identical to this staple  primer that I use on myself and my clients for $36 less!  You better believe I ordered another 2nd , 3rd and 4th bottle.  It’s perfect on the skin. It does exactly what it claims to do. It smooths your face and ensures your makeup lasts through out the day. As for the claim that it helps disperse complexion makeup evenly, I can see some truth to this definitely as it’s a very light weight formula that smooths out the texture of your skin allowing the makeup to glide on smoothly without the need to tug or pull to get the desired effect. The only negative feedback I have on this primer is not about the product itself but the drop dispenser packaging. I wish at some point Deciem will decide to package it in a squeeze tube instead of a dropper. It’s not easy to dispense. Overall this product is definitely worth $8 ! I can’t stop raving about how much I love it.

The Ordinary Lightweight Serum Foundation photo

The Ordinary Lightweight Serum Foundation, $7

The Ordinary Lightweight Serum Foundation  shut the internet down!

This $7 bottle had a 25,000 person waitlist as well as orders for 250,000 units it’s first week of launching and literally crashed the Deciem servers! It offers lightweight coverage but buildable to sheer-medium coverage and is formulated in a way that allows the pigments to look natural on the skin, serum like, and this does not settle in fine lines. It has a matte finish and works extremely well over any primer offered by The Ordinary. Only in Europe is this foundation available with SPF. This foundation and all Deciem products actually, are free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, animal oils, coal tar dyes, (WTF?) and a bunch of stuff I’m too lazy to type out…but honestly just trust me when I say your face will thank you for omitting junk from your makeup! The Ordinary Colours offers this foundation in 21 shades divided into 3 categories. I strongly recommend you visit their shade guide for a comprehensive breakdown of shades as well as swatches.

My thoughts: Every woman should have this serum foundation in her makeup bag for the days/nights she wants to feel good and natural in her own skin ! They are 100% right to claim this looks serum like on the skin. The foundation comes in a plastic bottle with a pump for easy application.

I apply The Ordinary Fluid Primer first and then I use about 1.5 pumps worth of serum foundation on a damp beauty blender to achieve the coverage I’m comfortable with. I ordered 2.1Y which I find is a good choice for the Summer months but once my tan fades I know I will have to go at least a shade lighter.

Every time I wear this foundation I am guaranteed over 7 hours of wear. It looks natural on the skin so if you have imperfections you want to hide, it would be a good idea to conceal those first before applying this foundation. If you are looking for a soft conceal of imperfections than you’re good to just use this foundation alone. For those that have oily skin you may need to touch up with some powder once through out the day but that’s probably after 6 hours of wear.

The Ordinary High Coverage Foundation, $7

The Ordinary High-Coverage Foundation offers a semi-matte finish with more pigmentation than the serum foundation therefore provides more coverage yet still does not feel or look cakey on the face.

My thoughts: I don’t wear this foundation as much as I do the Serum foundation only because I am, knock on wood, having really great skin these days so I don’t feel the need for that extra coverage. When I do wear it I love it. It still feels light on my skin but I know I have that extra coverage. I apply it the same way I do the serum foundation but I only use 1 pump for my entire face. This foundation is also buildable and hides imperfections well!

Overall thoughts: I’m really impressed with this company and how they managed to stay true to themselves while still offering great working products to their consumers! Deciem and The Ordinary line are definitely worth the hype. Their price point, products and overall social awareness is refreshing. I look forward to trying out a few other products from them and hopefully will love them just as much as I love these!
