Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Foundation Review

Make Up For Ever holds a very special place in my heart!

When I started out in makeup artistry, Make Up For Ever ( MUFE) was the ONLY brand I used in my kit. I had 2-3 of the HD foundation to start, a few loos eyeshadows and 3-4 of their  blushers. I also invested in 2 MUFE brushes and of course I was introduced to the HG of lip gloss, the Glossy Full lip gloss, which I’ve raved about before and to this day still use on myself and clients.
MAKE UP FOR EVER MATTE VELVET SKIN PHOTO

MUFE was kind enough to send me their latest innovative product, the Matte Velvet Skin foundation in shade Y405 Golden Honey and the 108 flat brush, which I already owned because I really am a huge fan of their brushes!

The Matte Velvet foundation comes in 40 shades, is full coverage and is meant to look and feel like your own skin. The launch of this product is huge!

Everyone, including myself, is so excited for the release of Matte Velvet. For me personally it means I get to add more great products from MUFE to my ever growing pro kit! Some brides prefer a matte -velvet finish on their big day and now I can truly deliver their wish.MAKE UP FOR EVER MATTE VELVET SKIN PHOTO

As I mentioned above, the foundation is available in 40 shades ,Y205 Alabaster is the lightest and R560 Chocolate is the darkest. Due to the foundations unique formula the foundation adapts to the movements of your face and resists cracking and caking.
Make Up By Maha Matar wearing MUFE MATTE VELVET FOUNDATION

This is a photo of me wearing the MUFE Matte Velvet Skin foundation in shade Y405.

I love how the foundation matched my skin tone perfectly and how it evened out my skin with just one dollop of the product. It holds up to the medium to full coverage claim as it hid a few blemishes I had really well with just a dime sized dollop. *love*

I realized after I inserted this photo to the post that

#1 there is a glare and lots of sun coming in from the Gondola we were on going up the mountain at Tremblant so my face looks really “bright” but regardless of the extra light coming in, the coverage was flawless!

    and

#2 I had to crop my gorgeous husbands face out fo the photo! He was not impressed with me when I told him he wouldn’t be featured in the post.

I am a bit tan here so Y405 fits me perfectly now, but come winter time I will need one shade lighter. I truly love this foundation because I am not a full matte, full coverage type gal. I prefer a semi-matte finish and this one delivers. It dries matte-velvet so it has a tiny bit of sheen to it.

If you like a dewy finish this foundation is probably  not for you.

I would consider it long wearing as I applied it at 6:08 am and removed it at 11:38 pm and it looked great right till the end. It did seep into my smile lines a tiny bit towards the end of the day but we got rained on and sweated on all day so overall I would say it held up really well and exceeded by expectations.Makeup For Eve 108 Straight Brush

I used the versatile 108 flat brush to apply the Matte Velvet Skin foundation but if you don’t have this brush, don’t worry, you can use any tool. I always use a MUFE brush to apply MUFE foundation. I guess I’m weird that way, but they work well together.

This is a large flat brush used to apply foundation quickly and I use it apply both liquid or cream foundation. I call it a versatile brush because it can be used to apply makeup to the shoulders and décolleté too.

The 108 flat brush is part of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artisan Brushes collection. Each brush passes through 25 production stages and is checked 50 times for quality. I own 4 of the Artisan brushes and they are fantastic. The price is a bit steep but if you are willing to take care of your brushes and wash them regularly then the long term investment is worth it!

I think the saying goes – an artist is only as good as his tools  🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed by blog post.

If you purchase the MUFE Matte Velvet Skin liquid foundation or Artisan  Flat brush please let me know. I love hearing your comments!

    PIXI BEAUTY LOVE!

    Pixi Beauty Product photo

I’ve discussed Pixi Beauty on my blog before , but I wanted to dedicate another post to them because #1 I love their products  and #2 they are against animal testing, and I’m trying to make a conscious effort to feature more brands in this category!  I have highlighted a few of their products that I’m currently using and loving in this post.

The Geltint & Silkgloss set were sent to me as a PR sample by Pixi ( #thankful). I threw one of them in my gym bag, the other in my work bag and the other is on my desk in my office, you know in case I want to freshen’ up at some time during one of my late night blogging sessions!

One side of the stick is the Tint and the other side is the Gloss. The tint is so subtle and adds a nice dose of color to your lips. , I found the tint somewhat hydrating but not too much. The gloss adds more hydration and compliments the tint. The gloss is not sticky and fragrance free. As both products deliver a light dose of colour to the lips, they are totally buildable and can be worn during the day or night if you prefer for a polished look.

Peel & polish is also another PR sample from Pixi. This enzyme peel can be used 2-3 times a week to help you reveal smoother more radiant looking skin.  It  will polish away all dry skin cells and impurities that have built up on your skin. The peel is made with natural fruit enzymes that help exfoliate  the skin in a very gentle manner.

I think the one product most people are curious about when I bring up Pixi is the glow tonic. For those who haven’t tried it yet ( not sure what your waiting for), it’s a glycolic acid toner that exfoliates and purifies the skin for a more radiant complexion. I use it every other night before I apply my night moisturizer, but it’s safe to use everyday. Love this stuff!

Pixi collaborated with 4 amazing beauty and lifestyle influencers. First up is their collaboration with influencer Maryam Maquillage. She’s such a doll and I always admired her so when the two teamed up I was so excited to see what the collaboration would be. Of course it’s the very popular Glow & Bronze palette. The highlighters are very wearable and more on the natural side which I adore! It’s very versatile and used it everyday this past Summer to add a sun kissed glow to my face.

Pixi also has a collaboration with influencer Aspynovard. Together they created a set of highlighters and  blush .I own Rome Rose blush. It’s the perfect peachy shimmery blush that I also wore the majority of the Summer. It really gives a natural flushed look to your skin. As much as I layered the blush I never felt it was overdone and blends beautifully on the skin.

The last product I own is from influencer Judy from ” It’s Judy Time”. Together these powerhouses came up with not one but two crazy popular palettes ; Get The Look : ITSEYETIME and ITSLIPTIME. One is an eye shadow palette and the other is a lip palette, obviously!  I have not had the chance to try the lip palette yet but I have used the eye shadow palette many times! The palette has 12 shades, mostly neutral , some shimmery but the majority are matte. I love that they included a mix of shimmery and matte shades. It makes the palette so versatile and worth spending the dollar bills on !! Right? I can’t ever see myself buying a palette with just shimmery shades or matte shades. It has to give a wide range of possibilities so you can come up with various looks using only one palette. The ITSEYETIME definitely delivers in that department. The shadows themselves are smooth almost buttery and blend really well. My favourite shade is Honey Bear. I use it as a transition shade and sometimes I just wear it all over my lid for a more “laid back I but still got my stuff together look”

Here I used ITSEYETIME palette to create this look. I used Honey Bear and Bubbly to create a very wearable everyday look. It literally took me 2 minutes to apply the shadows.  I saturated my brush with Honey Bear + Bubbly and one quick sweep over my eyelids was all it took. I decided to be a bit more dramatic, but still wearable , and swiped the colours on the bottom as well. I also used the Rome Rose blush to accentuate my cheekbones and cheeks. I freaking love this blush, pardon my language , but it’s so darn nice. It looks like I have a nice flush to my face with just the right amount of colour. Very wearable and low maintenance for this mom of 3!

Get Glowing with Caryl Baker Visage Luminous Makeup!

NEW LUMINOUS MAKEUP - CBV photo

NEW LUMINOUS MAKEUP COLLECTION – CBV

I’m a huge fan of glowing luminous skin and Summer is the perfect time to show off a radiant glow. I’m so thrilled to introduce to you lovely ladies and gents the latest products from Caryl Baker Visage (CBV). I was beyond excited to receive these products in the mail. I literally tore open the box and almost took out my child at the same time. The excitement level was out of this world for 2 reasons : Firstly, who doesn’t like to get a surprise package in the mail and secondly seeing the CBV logo just made my heart melt as I’m a HUGE fan of their skincare and threading services so naturally I was overjoyed to receive their new Luminous Makeup Collection.

This is what was in the package:

    Radiant Glow Drops

Caryl Baker Radiant Glow Drops photo

Caryl Baker Radiant Glow DropsCaryl Baker Radiant Glow Drops

These glow drops come in 3 shades : Moon Child ( Cool Champagne), Natural Glow ( Warm Gold), and High Beam ( Opalescent pink). They are loaded with a botanical blend of Camomile Flower, Ginseng Root and Ginkgo Leaf Extract which are all great soothing skin ingredients. The drops can be worn alone or as a primer for a “no makeup” makeup look or you can add a tiny drop to your foundation to add luminosity to your skin. I personally love adding these drops to my foundation so I can control how much product or glow I want that day. I pump my foundation on the back of my clean hand, then add one or two pumps of Natural Glow (my favourite!) on top and with a flat tapered foundation brush I mix the concoction very well and apply it to my skin starting from the middle of the face and working outwards.  To use this product as a primer just follow the same steps but omit the foundation. I also love adding Natural Glow to my cheekbones and cupids bow simply because I like to feel extra sometimes! Who doesn’t right 🙂

     Mineral Duo Bronzer

Caryl Baker Visage Mineral Duo Bronzer photo

The duo bronzer is made of long wearing soft pressed mineral powder that contains natural Alumina and Mica to help reflect light. The bronzer also contains Rosemary Leaf Exracts to provide antioxidant protection and Sunflower seed oil to sooth dry skin. The universal shade is called Whipped Shimmering Bronze/Glistening Gold and can be used on any skin tone. I’ve been using it non stop since I received it. The bronzer is unique as it will truly suite any skin tone and offers a generous amount of colour to the skin. I always use a light hand when applying bronzer but to test this product out I was a bit heavy handed, but still the outcome was gorgeous. The product diffuses on the skin very well and feels light thanks to the mineral properties. After several hours of wear  it didn’t look muddy or patchy in areas.  Glistening gold has turned out to be the perfect shade for highlighting under the brow and cupids bow. It’s gorgeous!!

    Powder Highlighters

Caryl Baker Visage Powder Highlight photos Caryl Baker Visage Powder Highlight photos

Prosecco (White Gold) and Pearl (Pink Moonstone) are the two new highlighters being offered in the Luminous collection. Pearl is my favourite out of the two because it suits my olive skin tone very well. I wear this on top of the Duo bronzer to add a bit more glow to my skin. These highlighters are on the medium sheer side so over applying should not be a concern . I found they worked really well over the Glow drops as a primer. If applied correctly, these highlighters can really enhance your features and give you that high cheekbone effect!

    Nude Balms

Dew (Almost Nude), Blush (Succulent Berry), Petal (Baby Pink)

If you ever hear me ask for nudes….I’m referring to these babies! The Nude Balms are true balms which means they don’t offer intense colour like a lipstick , but will hydrate your lips and give them a nice glossy look with a reasonable amount of colour. My favourite is Dew and I carry it in my purse all day every day! My sister snatched up Blush from me *sigh* and I’ve started using Petal in my professional kit as I think it’s the perfect wedding pink to apply over lipstick for extra shine!

Canada Day Look wearing CBV Mineral DuoADIAN Lipstick photo

This is a look I created for Canada Day. I’m wearing the Mineral Duo Bronzer, Pearl Highlighter, Natural Glow drops and fiery red lips!

I’ve really enjoyed using the CBV Luminous Collection and I hope you give them a try as they’re currently having an online sale. Have fun shopping!

Have you used any of these products? If so, I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments 🙂

    Countouring and Highlighting Magic Sticks!

When I started taking in clients for makeup application I noticed the highlight and contouring trend was here to stay. Every client wanted to have a sculpted face, which I was happy to give them. My contouring and highlighting skills progressed tremendously with every client and they were very satisfied with the results, but somehow I wasn’t. I was happy that my clients were elated with their look, but I found the contouring and highlighting process to be a bit tedious to be honest. There was so much blending involved to ensure the face didn’t look to muddy and I was spending loads of money on different products as I just couldn’t find a “one size fits all” type of product. Now of course, we are all made differently and don’t have similar undertones, skin tone etc, but there had to be an easier way I thought to myself ( these are the questions that keep me up at night !). 9 Products That Will Get You Summer Sexy NOW!

Summer Summer Sumertime, time to sit back and unwind…. Did you sing the song to the right beat? 🙂

It’s that time of year again when the temperatures are high and days are long! I’m not complaining, I enjoy the sun rays on my skin and the good vibes that come with the season. July is when I start to feel that Summer is officially here in my hometown, so that’s
usually when I start my search for beauty products that can transition me from Spring pretty to Summer sexy ! Everyone’s vision of sexy is different, of course, but my vision definitely includes iridescent soft skin, well manicured nails, long voluminous lashes and of course a killer smile! I thought why not share with all of you the products that make me feel amazing, sensual sexy, gorgeous …(you get the picture) in the Summer!

This past year I started experimenting with tanning lotions because I wanted to deepen my already tanned skin. I have medium olive skin and I tan fairly easily but baking in the sun is a huge no-no, so I had to find another alternative to get my JLo’esque glow on! I really like the St.Tropez self tanning products as they are the only products that I’ve been satisfied with that offer a more natural and gradual looking tan. The Prep and Maintain moisturizer is the first step in preparing your skin for that sun kissed glow. The enhancing moisturizer also prolongs your tan and hydrates your skin.

This is St.Tropez most popular tanning mousse. It’s to be used after the Prep and Maintain moisturizer. This mousse is very lightweight, streak free and simple to use. I’m a self tanning newbie and I didn’t find it complicated at all. St.Tropez products do not have that tanning salon smell that other tanning lotions have. The tanning mousse promises to give a streak free and natural looking tan. You will not look orange with this mousse and if you use it properly
you’ll experience a glowing tan for up to 10 days. It’s best to apply it with the St.Tropez tan applicator mitt to ensure you get a well blended tan.

The good folks at Coppertone sent me this product to try out. The Clearly Sheer Face lotion is part of the new formulated line that  also includes lotion and spray for the body. I know what your thinking, how is sunscreen sexy? Well first let me tell you what isn’t sexy; sun spots and skin cancer! To protect yourself against the harmful sun rays, you need to apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher, such as the Coppertone Clearly Sheer Face. It absorbs quickly into the skin and feels very light. I like that the formula will not clog my pores or cause breakouts and it’s specially formulated so it can be used on sensitive and acne prone skin. By taking a few minutes every morning to apply this sunscreen you’re well on your way in keeping wrinkles and dry patchy skin at bay. I was pleasantly surprised at how wearable this particular sunscreen was under my makeup. I didn’t experience any white cast on my face and when photographed wearing this sunscreen there wasn’t any flashback in the photos! If you want to see for yourself, check me out here ! I found out that Coppertone actually created this specific formula with women in mind to wear alongside their favourite makeup !It dries quickly to a matte finish and is so sheer and light you can actually mix it in with your foundation. As well, if you want to take a dip in the pool Clearly Sheer face and body offer 80 minutes of water resistant protection.
In recognition of their outstanding product Coppertone Clearly Sheer Face won Allure Magazines Best of Beauty award in 2015! After wearing it for 3 weeks straight I can defiantly see why it’s  a winner.

During the Summer, I rarely wear foundation. Actually, I have been wearing foundation for the past 4 days but only because I’m reviewing a brand name foundation for the blog. If it wasn’t for the review I would be wearing this tinted moisturizer!.It glides on effortlessly because it’s a liquid formula but has a creamy texture and gives you a dewy finish. I love how it evens out my skin tone without “masking” my skin. The coverage is minimal with this tint and I LOVE this because I feel like my skin looks it’s best in the Summer months and I actually want to show it off! I don’t want to hide behind full coverage makeup. The Nars Pure Radiant tint will give you healthy looking skin but it will NOT cover imperfections. Another great tinted moisturizer that I LOVE to wear is this one.
    Lashes Lashes, Lashes!
If you want to amp up the sultriness this Summer than invest in some lashes! Excessive Lash mascara gives you long, voluminous and and full lashes. The first time I used this mascara was at a recent night out with my husband and he actually commented that my eyes
looked “bigger”!. I didn’t experience any smudging or clumping because of the heat that night but this is a Make Up For Ever mascara and these professionals know what their doing with pro-grade products! This is my go-to Summer mascara!
Maybelline has once again come out with a winner! The Master Hi-Light Blush is a must in your makeup kit this Summer. Why? Well first off it doubles as a highlighter and blush. Yay! Cost savings!
The soft milled powder feels creamy and applies like a dream. It’s buildable, meaning you can apply several layers until you reach your desired intensity without it looking cakey. It comes in 6 different illuminating combos. I’ve used Nude and Mauve! Mauve is by far my favourite!.Like I mentioned it can be used as a blush and a highlighter. As a highlighter it will not make you glow like a disco ball! That isn’t sexy to me ( my opinion only no need to be offended)! I apply the Nude shade above my cupids bow, at the high end of my cheekbones and temples. It gives me the right amount of highlight during the day and for night time I amp it up a bit with a few layers! As a blush, it offers a subtle fresh colour OR you can turn the heat up and layer it on!  All the shades can be worn with any skin tone. This product is gorgeous in daylight with the sun glistening on your skin. Side Note: Went to my local drugstore yesterday to pick up Pink Rose ( for the 2nd time now )but it still sold out the day it restocked!

I received this stain in the shade “Energy Shot” as part of a gift that I won at an event. I wasn’t too thrilled with the colour as it was a bit too pale for my olive skin, but I was intrigued with the formula and the union of a lipgloss + lip stain. I ended up ordering “Preserving Passion” and “Long Live the Night”. I would categorise this product more of a stain rather than a lipgloss as the glossiness of a typical gloss (say that 5 times fast)wasn’t there, however the staying power of the stain is worth picking this product up! Because I wanted a bit more sultriness to my lips, I overlined   my lips a bit and added a coat of”Long Live The Night” and topped it off with a lipgloss. Wore it all night and received many compliments on it!

A polished  manicure in the Summer is a must for me. Add a romantic hue to the nails, sandals, maxi dress, and a floppy brim fedora and you’re on your way to channelling the effortlessly styled Kate Hudson! I love wearing essie “spaghetti strap” because it’s a romantic pink peony colour that makes me feel girly and sweet! What nail colour do you reach for when you want to feel sultry and a bit wild?  Of course, classic red! I truly believe any red lipstick and fiery red nail polish can ignite a woman’s confidence, so no need to shy away from this powerful shade! Wear it with grit! I’ve been an essie lover since I first laid my eyes on their vast array of colours years back but lately I’ve been swooning over butter London nail lacquer. Come To Bed Red is one of their most suggestive names and is befitting of this gorgeous colour!

Let’s talk about hair b.a.b.y! Let’s talk about you and me….
I’m feeling really nostalgic while writing this post today. For all the millennial generation readers just ignore me! So I take great pride in removing every bit of hair , not on my head, off my body! I do it every 2.5 to 3 weeks. I like the feeling of having super smooth skin and I just feel so much better and cleaner.Ok, now I’ve shared a bit too much info but I told you I was going to share my secrets with you! I was sent the wax ready strips as a PR sample to try out and if I liked the product to write a post about my experience. What the good folks over at Nair don’t know is that this is what I’ve been using for a while now and this product is my go-to hair removal product. Because of my middle eastern decent, my hair grows really fast, I mean super lightning fast! I find the ready strips super easy to use as there is no need to warm up the product before use. The strips don’t dry out my skin at all and I don’t’ haven’t experienced any pain or discomfort when removing the strips(even in the most delicate areas but this may differ for each individual). The typical results last about 3-4 weeks. My results last about 2 weeks(remember super lightning fast hair growth)!. For the price point of the product you’re receiving 40 wax strips so you get a few sessions out of each box. If you compare Nair value vs salon value you’re spending $8 for half leg and bikini compared to half leg an bikini for the $70 at the salon(in Ontario). If your interested in trying the wax ready-strips, Nair has offered a $2 coupon on their site. I’ll link it for you here!

First Impressions : Drugstore Matte Lip Stains

2015 was the year of Matte liquid lip stains! Everyone from Anastasia Of Beverly Hills, Stila, and Kat Von D came out with new formulations and colours of their already cult favourite matte liquid lip stains. The youngest of the Kardashian Klan(lol), Kylie Jenner jumped on the bandwagon and brought along with her a new younger crowd of matte liquid lip stain lovers. In 2016 this trend is still going strong and I couldn’t be happier as I’m a huge fan of matte lipsticks/stains. I would change my outfit to match my lipstick colour…no joke…the struggle is real people. Pure Hollywood from Anastasia of Beverly hills was my first matte liquid lip stain purchase. I was so impressed by the long lasting formula. I loved it so much that I used up the .11oz tube very quickly. What does a girl do when she doesn’t want to spend another $26 on a .11 oz tube of beautiful smooth, long lasting matte lip stain ? Look for equally impressive drug store options, right! I picked up a few options in the hopes of finding my drugstore holy grail liquid lip stain.

NYX brand is vastly becoming a house hold name, if not so already. I blog about NYX products all the time as I love the higher end quality of their products. I was so eager to try out the Liquid Suede that as soon as I paid for the products,I got in my car and applied liquid suede, Pink Lust right away. The formula is very creamy and feels nice when applied. The applicator is easy to use but doesn’t pick up a lot of  product at first so you need to dip back in a few times. The formula doesn’t have any scent to it, bonus!. I had to reapply the lip stain a few times through out the day as it transferred onto cups easily.3 hours after my initial application I still didn’t feel that it dried into a true matte formula. It applied creamy and settled into more of a silky look. Overall I like this product but I felt it wasn’t a true matte finish and not something I would purchase if I was looking for a matte finish.

As of today, Revlon has 8 shades in this line of matte lip colour. I bought HD Temptation. The tube is rounded flat and resembles the hourglass liquid lipstick. The applicator is shorter than the NYX liquid suede so it allows for more control in the application. As soon as I applied the lipstick I was hit with a sweet smell. I don’t mind the smell but I know many people prefer to not smell and taste their makeup. It wasn’t a showstopper for me, but I could do without it. Once applied the lip stain felt very creamy and I noticed it instantly hydrated my dry lips. As with the NYX liquid suede, I can’t say it dried to a true matte stain but it definitely dried to a semi-matte. It still felt great on even after a few hours of wear. I didn’t find it transferred colour easily, which is great! I only had to reapply, lightly, once through out the day. This formula is definitely a hybrid of a lip balm/gloss/lipstick because it’s moisturising, semi-glossy and long wearing. I would definitely purchase this product again. I think REVLON is re branding themselves with fresh new products and I love the direction they’re taking.

Have you ever bought a product and you thought to yourself, what did I use before this ? This is how I feel about the L’oreal Infallible Matte  ” Gloss”. To be honest, I didn’t have high expectants for this gloss because the packaging didnt excite me very much. Yes, I’m one of those people that enjoys good packaging, I’ll admit it! I like to display my makeup on my vanity as I find it adds a bit of glamour. Ok, let’s get back on track now 🙂 This product comes in 12 shades and I bought Forbidden Kiss. Love the name! I thourghly enjoyed using this product. The applicator itself is short so precise application is made easier. I love that the sponge tip is heart shaped(at least to me that’s what it loos like). It actually allows me to lightly line my lips with the tip because of its unique shape. You have to apply this procdut with precision because it dries FAST! You better have a Q-Tip handy to wipe away any mistakes quickly! There was no transfer of product onto my coffee cup at 2pm (applied it at 9:30 am). At 4 pm the colour was still going strong with a bit of bleeding int he middle, but nothing a small touch up can’t’ fix. L’Oreal markets this product as a matte gloss and they I think it’s true matte lipstick. I didn’t find it was very hydrating to the lips and it definitely didn’t give off any
“gloss” resemblance.  In my opinion this product is the truest matte liquid lip stain that I’ve tried so far.I’ve been wearing it almost everyday now and went back to purchase Sunset and Barely Nude. A great drugstore alternative to the brand named liquid stains.

It’s no surprise that Maybelline is one of my favourite drugstore brands. I blog about them often and NO, I am not sponsored by them!I just love that they make well formulated products that work for the masses. When I heard they came out with a new lip stain, I ran, no joke, to Shoppers and picked up heir latest product. Vivid Matte liquid comes in 10 high pigmented shades. I picked up Nude Thrill, Rebel Red and Pink Charge. The.26 oz tube is rectangular shaped and there’s nothing to exciting about it. The formula itself is very creamy and has a sweet rose smell to it.It’s not an overbearing smell but it’s noticeable. The formula itself is creamy and long lasting. It doesn’t dry to a true matte finish, but borderline semi matte. It definitely will hydrate your lips and there is some colour transfer of the product. I didn’t have to reapply the product more than once through out the day. Even though this wasn’t a true matte lip stain product, I would repurchase as the colours are very pigmented and hydrated my lips very well.

essence liquid lipstick was the most budget friendly product of the bunch. At $3.99 a tube, it’s very affordable. The product comes in 6 shades and I purchased Make a Statement and Colour Party. The shades aren’t too pigmented. They come in baby pinks, nudes and plum. The.13oz tube is transparent and short. The applicator is also very short making application, in my opinion, easier. The formula is creamy and not very long lasting. I believe essence should be marketing these products as lipgloss and not lipsticks. I wasn’t too excited about this product, even though I do enjoy a lot of other essence products. This one just didn’t excite me. I won’t be repurchasing this product. Due to the sheer colour of these lipsticks,I ended up giving them to my daughter as they really are more of a gloss based product.

I always want to be transparent with my readers so I will tell you that I have gone back and repurchased Anastasia Beverly Hill, Pure Hollywood and Stila, Stay All Day liquid Lipstick in Caramel. I think these brands make the best higher end liquid lip stains. I thoroughly enjoy these lip stains and will be doing a review on them shortly.

REVIEW – M.A.C STUDIO WATERWEIGHT SPF 30 FOUNDATION

Last month I was searching for a light to medium coverage foundation that can be worn everyday. I don’t usually wear foundation everyday but when I decide to its the MAC Pro LongWear. Lately I’m finding it too heavy and the effort it takes to properly blend this foundation out is too much work for a busy woman on the go,go,go,….you get the idea! I popped into a MAC store one afternoon and the MAC girl raved about the Studio Waterweight foundation.I had never heard of it before so I was curious to try it out and see for myself what the hype was about.I purchased it in the shades NC40 and NC42, just in case.I’ve been wearing it for 3 weeks (almost) everyday now and I’ve fallen in love with this foundation.

The foundation is encapsulated in a glass bottle with a dropper to easily dispense the right amount of product right onto my Sigma flat kabuki brush. Genius! It has an ultra-fluid, thin, serum-like consistency. Upon application it felt very silky on my face, not cakey at all. I noticed right away that it blurred out my “freckles” ( OK sunspots) on my temple. This impressed me as I was really considering getting these spots lasered off! The finish is neither matte nor dewy. After one application it has a very natural finish, almost satin/sheen like. At two applications it’s a full medium coverage foundation. I’ve only been applying one even coat and I’m really happy with the amount of coverage I’m getting. As I’ve mentioned before, I have very dry skin in the winter and I felt this foundation didn’t dry up my skin.I can’t say it hydrated it either, but it does a good job of not drying it up further.I love the idea that the watertight foundation has SPF 30 in the formula. As well the MAC girl gushed over the fact that it’s full of antioxidants(to help repair damaged skin). This can be used on all skin types including acne prone skin. It’s water based and should not cause irritation to the skin.

Overall, I’m giving the Studio Waterweight foundation a thumbs up. If you’re in the market for a light – medium foundation, definitely try it out and let me know what you think 🙂
