I’m always curious about what products other women carry around in their makeup bags so I thought I would share with you what I currently have in mine.
It seems that every month my makeup bag gets fuller and fuller with little treasures I find in the form of lipsticks, liners, foundation and mascara wands ! My bag travels everywhere with me !!I ‘ve been known to apply my makeup on the go like on the metro, in a cab and recently in my classroom! I’m a busy girl so when I need to freshen up I make sure I have all my essentials with me.
This month I’ve loaded my blush Isabella Scott bag with a few new goodies! I recently repurchased the SmashBox Be Legendary Lip Gloss. I love this gloss as it offers a light burst of colour and comes in many different shades. It’s also not sticky. I detest that sticky and tacky feeling that some glosses have. Yuck!
I’ve become a huge fan of the L’Oreal Exclusive Lipstick Collection. I currently have Freida’s Nude lipstick, Liya’s Nude as well as Eva’s red lipstick. I wore Eva’s red on this blog post here and received lots of compliments on it. Not only are these lipsticks super affordable, but the pigmentation and longevity are very comparable to higher end lipstick brands. Another lip product I carry in my make up bag and religiously buy over and over again is the Make Up Forever Glossy Full Plumping Lip Gloss. I don’t usally wear this gloss alone, I always layer it with the lipstick that I’m wearing that day. If want a matte lip then obviously I forgo the gloss.
A staple in every makeup bag has to be the Vaseline! I actually have a travel size that I carry with me in my purse. Vaseline combats any dryness I may have. An embarrassing tidbit about me is that during the winter months my knuckles are dry AF ! So out comes the Vaseline and it heals the dry areas instantly. I also carry a travel size Vaeline Lip Therapy in cocoa butter for my lips. Canadian winters are harsh man!
Like I said in the beginning of this post, I ‘m fairly busy these days so I’m not being creative with my eye makeup in the morning anymore. One swipe of a light peach/coral neutral shadow is my life saver right now. The peach/coral shade brightens and opens up my eyes and it’s very low maintenance; one swipe with my finger ( as I don’t carry around my 217 MAC brush anymore) and I’m good to go! I love the L’Oréal Infallible eyeshadows. They’re portable and highly pigmented.
For concealer I’ve been using the Maybelline Fit me! In one of my recent posts I discussed my thoughts on this particular concealer and you can read about it here. I really do like this concealer and it reminds me of the Nars creamy concealer , however I only use the Maybelline concealer with a corrector ( not pictured). Lately I’ve been using the NYX Cosmetics Dark Circle Corrector and you can read my thoughts on this product here as well .
I have fairly thick and well defined brows so the only real maintenance I do on them (besides bi-weekly wax sessions) during the day is one swipe of the Gimme Brow Voluming Fibre to fill in a few sparse areas and add colour to my brows. That’s all! Simple yet very effective. This product is as magical as unicorns!
Hand sanitizer is like Vaseline , it’s a must in every makeup bag. Period. I personally love the scented sanitizers from Bath and Body Works.
I’ve found the Sumptuous Bold Volume mascara from Estee Lauder and I’m never letting go! It’s that good!
For blush I like to keep it very neutral ( lol)! That’s a complete lie. I adore blush! The more the merrier I say , well I don’t really say that but I think it. I keep the Milani baked blush in my purse as it really is a versatile product. It’s a great pigmented blush to have in your bag, but I caution you to apply it with a light hand. It has a bit of shimmer and that’s ok if you apply it lightly. There are times when I need to head out to an event or meet up with some girlfriends after work or class and I don’t have the time to run home and glam myself up , so I use the Milani baked blush to add extra oomph to my eyes! Yes , that’s right, I put blush on my eyelids. It really is a cool trick to draw more attention to your eyes. No brush needed, just use your fingers and you can apply as many coats of this blush as you want. Now, If I had my go-to glam makeup products with me I most likely wouldn’t be using blush on my lids but sometimes you just gotta make due with what you have handy.
If you prefer a no-shimmer kind of blush I would highly recommend the matte Tarte 12 hour clay.
Do you wear highlighter during the day ?
I wasn’t a big fan of wearing highlighter during the day but that was before I found this little gem; the Girlactik Face Glow in Natural . This has become a favourite of mine and it also has a cult following. It’s so light you can barely notice it’s there but there are times I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and it looks like I have a radiant glow to my face and it’s because of this highlighter. I apply it on my cheekbones and around my temples. I don’t do this all the time, but if I’m meeting friends after work or for a lunch date and I want to be a bit more “fancy” then I’ll take that extra step and apply this highlighter.
Last but not least, I have added the amazing CHANEL CC cream to my day bag. It’s only been about a week that I’ve been wearing it and I’ve received so many compliments on how even and radiant my skin looks. I am madly in love with this product. It not only moisturizes and evens out my complexion but it also protects my skin as it has SPF 50.
I hope you enjoyed this post. If you have show me some love in the comments below and I’ll make this topic a monthly post !
