BYE BYE SUMMER, HELLO FALL : New Makeup + Skincare

I can’t believe we are saying goodbye to the blazing heat in Ottawa and shifting our thoughts to PSL, pumpkin pies and riding boots! Fall is on the horizon and I am not sure how I feel about that, however, since your an avid reader of my blog you probably already know how much I look forward to switching up my makeup and skincare products with each season.  Fall 2018 is the season I amp up my skincare and become more adventurous with my makeup looks! Here are the Fall products I’m loving and living for!

Skincare for me is so essential. I have friends that don’t use any skincare and I’m shocked and ask myself :

#1 – how are we friends again?  and

#2 – so you like aging rapidly?

    Nope sorry. Not I.

I am a strong believer that skincare can and will help you slow down the aging process ( of course eating healthy, drinking  loads of water , minimizing stress also help 🙂 ).

This is why I religiously wash, exfoliate, serum and moisturize every morning and night!

I was happy to receive the Rodial Dragons Blood Micellar cleansing water and Dragon’s Blood essence mist to help me NOT age rapidly 🙂. I’m a huge fan of this brand because they use innovative ingredients in their products that actually work great together to deliver results.

    The cleansing water contains

Rose water to cleanse and refresh skin,

Vitamin b3 to helps brighten skin,

Hyalronic acid to lock in hydration while preventing moisture loss while helping plump up the skin.

This is now the first step in my morning and night routine, I dampen a cotton pad and wipe off my makeup. I like to use another cotton pad soaked in the cleansing water a second time to ensure everything is removed. I’m just paranoid like this! Give this a try if your looking

The Dragons blood essence mist is a triple threat. It can be used as

    Makeup Primer,

    Setting Spray,

    Serum substitute

Truthfully, I use this mist as a setting spray only and I love it! I love how with one pump I get so much mist and it absorbs into my skin quickly and leaves it really refreshed, glow-y , and helps my makeup stay. On really hot days when I’ve worn makeup I’ve spray the essence mist on to freshen up my look. I love his spray. I didn’t know that it comes in a mini size, but now that I do know this I’ll be buying it in mini so I can carry it around in my makeup bag this Fall.

“Born This Way” medium to full coverage foundation from Too Faced is the fist product I’ve tried from this brand. I didn’t really know what to expect because all the reviews have been amazing for this foundation, but of course I needed to form my own opinion.

Day 1 wearing this foundation wasn’t the greatest experience. I felt it oxidized rather quickly and by the time I got home that day it didn’t look like I had any foundation on. My face looked rather dull.  I instantly regretted buying it, but I said I would have another go at it as almost everyone I know has loved it from the get-go!

Day 2 was better. I realized on Day 2 that on Day 1 wasn’t wearing any of  my usual skincare ( testing out some PR products) and the products did NOTHING for my skin and made my skin look really dull, dry and just plain gross! If your skin prep is off even using a foundation made with the tears of the last unicorn wouldn’t make your skin look good!

Day 3 I realized why I didn’t like the foundation as much as I thought I would. I wasn’t pumping enough foundation onto my brush. 2 pumps of the “Born This Way” foundation was not enough for my liking so I tried 3.5 pumps and VOILA, it was magic! Thank god this product is buildable. After trial and error I finally found the right ratio of pumps for my liking and I have to say I am IN LOVE with this foundation. It covered imperfections beautifully and gave me a semi – matte look. I just hope going into the colder months it holds up!

My skin in natural light wearing “Born This Way” Too Faced foundation.

Esqido is a brand that I was introduced to this year when they sent me their best selling lashes to experiment with. You can read my thoughts on the lashes  here.

They recently sent me their new gel liners in brown and black . Esqido gel liners are no joke folks ! They are

    long lasting.

    glide smoothly,

     have great colour payoff,

    formulated without latex,sulphates and parabens.

The liners have a twist dispenser and a precision sharpener.

I’m a big fan of lining the inner eyelids and sometimes I find that some eyeliners don’t glide on smoothly in that area so I end up tugging a bit on the lid to ensure I get the liner in place, but with the Esqido liners there was no need to tug as the liner glided on effortlessly! The black liner is really a rich black and you can create a long lasting cat eye with minimum effort.

I used to be obsessed with the MAC lip liners. Soar was my absolute favourite as it matched all my lipsticks. I was never crazy about paying $22 for a lip liner but I did anyway because there wasn’t any other product I liked more until I started using the NYX Suede Matte Lip Liners! I FREAKING love them ! I’m sure I’ve blogged about them before but I wanted to reiterate in this post how amazing these $6 lip liners are.

Going into Fall, matte shades are a must for me so I picked up Dainty Daze ( shown below) and KYOTO. I like to line my lips first and then shade the top and lower lip with the liner, then apply the lipstick. I find it lasts longer and deepens the colour of the lipstick. For $6 you cannot go wrong with this amazing liner!

I don’t usually talk about hair care on the blog,  but I really should as I get asked all the time what I use on my curly, and unruly hair!

If there is one product I can’t live without to tame my hair it would have to be the Kérastase Nutritive K Oléo-Relax serum ( some people call it an oil but I don’t like to call it that).I have been using this serum for years and years. It’s an amazing product that can be used on your hair wet or dry, curly or straight , frizz or no frizz. It can be used to add shine to your hair or use it for it’s original purpose which is to control frizz.

I have repurchased this product at least 4 times and lasts me about a year. I only use one or two pumps depending on the length of my hair at that time. When I wear my hair curly , I apply the serum to my wet hair before applying any styling products. When I wear my hair straight, I apply one pump before and after styling.  This is my HG for taming my frizz! I know it carries a steep price ( $45 ) but it is well worth it for me as it lasts me a whole year!

    Pixi Beauty Product photo

I’ve discussed Pixi Beauty on my blog before , but I wanted to dedicate another post to them because #1 I love their products  and #2 they are against animal testing, and I’m trying to make a conscious effort to feature more brands in this category!  I have highlighted a few of their products that I’m currently using and loving in this post.

The Geltint & Silkgloss set were sent to me as a PR sample by Pixi ( #thankful). I threw one of them in my gym bag, the other in my work bag and the other is on my desk in my office, you know in case I want to freshen’ up at some time during one of my late night blogging sessions!

One side of the stick is the Tint and the other side is the Gloss. The tint is so subtle and adds a nice dose of color to your lips. , I found the tint somewhat hydrating but not too much. The gloss adds more hydration and compliments the tint. The gloss is not sticky and fragrance free. As both products deliver a light dose of colour to the lips, they are totally buildable and can be worn during the day or night if you prefer for a polished look.

Peel & polish is also another PR sample from Pixi. This enzyme peel can be used 2-3 times a week to help you reveal smoother more radiant looking skin.  It  will polish away all dry skin cells and impurities that have built up on your skin. The peel is made with natural fruit enzymes that help exfoliate  the skin in a very gentle manner.

I think the one product most people are curious about when I bring up Pixi is the glow tonic. For those who haven’t tried it yet ( not sure what your waiting for), it’s a glycolic acid toner that exfoliates and purifies the skin for a more radiant complexion. I use it every other night before I apply my night moisturizer, but it’s safe to use everyday. Love this stuff!

Pixi collaborated with 4 amazing beauty and lifestyle influencers. First up is their collaboration with influencer Maryam Maquillage. She’s such a doll and I always admired her so when the two teamed up I was so excited to see what the collaboration would be. Of course it’s the very popular Glow & Bronze palette. The highlighters are very wearable and more on the natural side which I adore! It’s very versatile and used it everyday this past Summer to add a sun kissed glow to my face.

Pixi also has a collaboration with influencer Aspynovard. Together they created a set of highlighters and  blush .I own Rome Rose blush. It’s the perfect peachy shimmery blush that I also wore the majority of the Summer. It really gives a natural flushed look to your skin. As much as I layered the blush I never felt it was overdone and blends beautifully on the skin.

The last product I own is from influencer Judy from ” It’s Judy Time”. Together these powerhouses came up with not one but two crazy popular palettes ; Get The Look : ITSEYETIME and ITSLIPTIME. One is an eye shadow palette and the other is a lip palette, obviously!  I have not had the chance to try the lip palette yet but I have used the eye shadow palette many times! The palette has 12 shades, mostly neutral , some shimmery but the majority are matte. I love that they included a mix of shimmery and matte shades. It makes the palette so versatile and worth spending the dollar bills on !! Right? I can’t ever see myself buying a palette with just shimmery shades or matte shades. It has to give a wide range of possibilities so you can come up with various looks using only one palette. The ITSEYETIME definitely delivers in that department. The shadows themselves are smooth almost buttery and blend really well. My favourite shade is Honey Bear. I use it as a transition shade and sometimes I just wear it all over my lid for a more “laid back I but still got my stuff together look”

Here I used ITSEYETIME palette to create this look. I used Honey Bear and Bubbly to create a very wearable everyday look. It literally took me 2 minutes to apply the shadows.  I saturated my brush with Honey Bear + Bubbly and one quick sweep over my eyelids was all it took. I decided to be a bit more dramatic, but still wearable , and swiped the colours on the bottom as well. I also used the Rome Rose blush to accentuate my cheekbones and cheeks. I freaking love this blush, pardon my language , but it’s so darn nice. It looks like I have a nice flush to my face with just the right amount of colour. Very wearable and low maintenance for this mom of 3!

Rejuvenate Your Look This Season With My Autumn Favourites!

    Well hi there!

Yes, it’s been a long time since we last spoke my dear friends 🙂

I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve missed blogging and interacting with you all!

Just a quick update on my life so far. As some of you noticed, I hope all of you noticed, my blog has been a bit dry lately. Trust me, it was not done intentionally…well it kind of was but it was for the best …trust me again. I was on an intensive course for 10 months that required  100% of my attention. Thankfully after loads of coffee, long sleepless nights , some tears and many missed family gatherings I can say I was successful and this opportunity has opened many doors for me. I’m so blessed and happy that it is now behind me and I can now concentrate, once again, on the things I love like family , makeup, blogging about makeup and eating good food…in that exact order 🙂

( I have to warn you, there is a lot of content in this blog post because I thought since I’ve been MIA I owed you a good read ! So go ahead grab a cup of coffee, tea, wine and get comfy because this one is worth the wait! )

So now we’re deep into October and just last week it started to feel like Autumn in Ottawa. I spent a whole day switching out my closet to warm, cozy sweaters, boots, and scarfs and of course I didn’t neglect my makeup and skincare stash!

Every new season I incorporate a few new items to my makeup and skincare routine and this season is no exception.

Let me introduce you to just a few of the new Caryl Baker Visage Nirvana fall collection. The whole collection has the deep rich pigmented fall colours that we all love like the coppers, golds, deep reds and burgundies. Perfect for Autumn !

I’ve used the CBV makeup in the past and loved it and this collection is perfection. So far I’ve used Faith, Shrine, and Stone eye shadows as well as Good Vibes lip lacquer. The shadows are pigmented ,long lasting with or without primer, but since I’m a creature of habit I always prime my lids regardless! I would have to say that Faith is my favourite shade. I use it as a base or worn alone for a romantic look. Stone has to be the deepest black I’ve tried. I compare the depth of black on Stone to the Inglot Cosmetics Gel liner pot, which in my opinion, is the blackest gel liner on the market so far. It’s that black! Shrine is gold perfection. It’s what I call a true gold. Not a yellow gold but more of a copper gold which I love!

The Good Vibes lip lacquer is the essential lip colour for fall. It’s a deep plum that dries on matte and hydrates the lips. You will probably get a good 5 hour wear before you may need to reapply. I paired Good Vibes with a basic smokey eye using Stone and Shrine on the lower lash and the look was fire!  I’m really interested in trying the shade Lava which is a coral red lip lacquer. Two great colours for fall!

Next up is my favourite makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury’s uber successful Hollywood collection which includes contour / highlight wands as well as matte liquid lipsticks. Of course I gravitate towards the lip products because I’m such a lip product junkie. Showcased here are Hollywood lips in Pin Up Pink and Rising Star. Both shades are more on the neutral side which I adore in any season! The staying power on the Hollywood Lip glosses are ridiculous … in a good way! I also love that they contain beeswax to ensure your lips stay hydrated as many matte products dry out your lips. The lip wand is shaped in a crescent to mimic the natural curves of the lip for easier application. This is genius!

I also have the Hollywood Contour wand in a medium – dark shade. It is the perfect contour shade for my olive skin, however I’ve only used it once straightly from the tube and the other 5 or 6 times I’ve used the contour wand I had to dispense the product on the back of my hand and then onto a brush to apply. I feel like the wand dispenses too much product at once. Other than that I love this contour wand and it’s so compact that you can literally throw it in any bag and take it with you. If you are light-handed with this product it will last you a looong time!

Makeup forever is one of my go-to trusted makeup brands. My pro kit is 80% makeup forever so of course I had to try the new Artist Face powders. I’ve tried out Gold Copper and Shimmery Champagne. This product is so multipurpose. I’ve used both shades as a top coat for eye shadow to add extra “pop” to  a look (kind of like glitter). You can also use them as highlighters and if I had the right shade I could have used them as a blusher !

This past Summer I started using the Dermologica Daily Superfoliant to get rid of the dead skin cells that build up over time and it worked really well so I ‘m going to continue to use it this Fall as well. The superfoliant is a powder and once you add water it becomes a paste that is gentle enough to use everyday and I truly use it everyday. My face feels so fresh and so clean after.

Another daily product that I now love and simply have to add to my skincare routine is the Vichy Pureté Thermal cleansing gel as well as the Vichy LIFTACTVE Vitamin C hydraulic acid for intense anti aging benefits. The cleansing gel is now in my top 5  must have products of all time. I knew it was a good cleanser once it passed my cotton round test.

What’s the cotton test you ask? Great question! I knew I had smart readers 🙂

The cotton test is when you take a cotton round and after washing with a cleanser and drying your face, you take a cotton round and swipe it on your forehead. If you have any dirt or impurities that come off on the cotton round than the cleanser is no bueno ( not good in Spanish) , however if you swipe and nothing comes off onto the cotton round then you have yourself a winning cleanser! This is my cotton round test! Go ahead , it’s yours to use. As well, I think it’s really important to mention that my skin did not dry out after using the cleansing, actually it felt really fresh and radiant.

The Vichy LIFTACTIVE Vitamin C is not going to be for everyone. Some of you may find it too strong for your skin, but my skin absolutely loves it! As soon as I apply the Vitamin C it seeps into my skin without any irritation.  I wanted to add a Vitamin C product to my routine because I am so sick of my brown / sun spots that have formed these past 2 years. I’ve used the LIFTACTIVE Vitamin C for a few weeks now and it seems to be diminishing the brown spots. They are still there but it looks like they are less visible. For sure I’m gong to keep using the product until these darn brown spots are no more!!  As well this product is great for lifting and plumbing your skin so you look more awake and youthful!!

Since I’m still loving the Rocky Mountain Soap Co. products I definitely wanted to include them in this post, but if you want an in-depth review of these products you can read all about them here.  Same goes for the Ordinary products that have literally saved my skin this Summer. You can read about those products here.

That’s a wrap on my Autumn favourites! Again, Thank you guys for supporting  my blog and I am so happy to be back sitting in front of my computer, with a bowl of vegan mint chocolate chip ice cream and blogging about what I love most! Thank you so much !

First Impressions : Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup

Have you ever stayed in an upscale hotel or driven in a luxury car and felt that from now on you can’t settle for anything less than this experience? This is how I feel about the Estée Lauder Double Wear, Stay-In-Place Makeup. I truly believe I have found the Maserati of all foundations! Double Wear exudes glamour and luxury and I desperately need it in my life from now on!
Double Wear is long wearing, 15 hours to be exact, has a fluid texture, provides medium coverage, very lightweight and gives a semi-matte natural finish. This foundation comes in 3 tones (C) cool, (N) neutral, and (W) warm and has over 30 shades to choose from.
//Wearing Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup in Ivory Beige. Soft lighting and NO editing//
I was introduced to the Double Wear Makeup on one of my lunch break visits to Nordstrom. I really wasn’t shopping for a new foundation, but sometimes god has plans for you and you must accept it ( I’m being a bit dramatic I know). The overly exuberant sales lady insisted I test it out and promised me I would be pleased. I had a hard time saying no, so I reluctantly propped myself onto her mini stool and waited while she matched me to a shade. I convinced her to let me take the lead and I applied the makeup the best way I knew how to apply foundation. I warmed the foundation on the back of my hand in circular motions and applied it to one side of my face with a flat brush. I stepped into the light she had setup beside her counter and was pleasantly surprised at the overall natural finish + semi sheen I saw to my skin after one coat. I liked how silky and soft it felt on my skin and how even my complexion looked. I was impressed but wasn’t blown away. I did the other side of my face and told the sales lady, ” I would think about it, I like it but I don’t love it”. Back to office I went with a fresh foundation application. As a coincidence, Ottawa that day hit temperatures of 30 degrees and to my surprise my foundation stayed in place. It didn’t separate, oxidize or become patchy. Actually , it looked better 4 hours after the initial application. I was a bit perplexed as I had never experienced this with a foundation. How is it that it looked better now than when I applied it at noon?  I researched this magic of a foundation online and it seems that Double Wear was formulated to provide built in long lasting wear. The longer you wear the foundation, it starts to look better on the skin. My skin looked airbrushed 4 hours after I applied it!I have worn the foundation almost every day  since I first purchased it 3 weeks ago and it hasn’t let me down.
Final Impressions: I like how soft it feels on my skin and doesn’t dry out my already dry skin.I love the fluid rich texture and I’m very pleased with the variety of shades available. I appreciate how it evens out my complexion and provides great medium coverage. I did have to use concealer on a few areas but this is expected with any medium coverage foundation. At $53 it’s very comparable cost-wise with other brand name foundations, but I believe Double Wear is best value for your money because not once did I have to “freshen up” my face while wearing this foundation. So I never used any powder to prolong the life of my foundation. The only setback I have with Double Wear is that it doesn’t have a pump to extract the foundation. I don’t like having to dig into the foundation to get the product. Overall, I can say I have found my HG of foundations! It works so well on my olive toned skin and gives me that perfect fresh, natural and even complexion that I lust after. I truly enjoy wearing this foundation as it does add a bit of luxe into my life and who doesn’t want that!
DISCLAMIER: I bought this product with my own funds. The opinions expressed are my own and I am not affiliated with Estée Lauder

First Impressions: Curl Keeper Styling Collection

The generous team at Trade Secrets sent me the Curl Keeper Styling Collection to experiment with.I was under no obligation to write a post about these products or provide a good review, just my honest opinion. I’ll get right to point and not keep you all in agonising anticipation.I Love these products! I don’t recall the last time I was so excited about a hair styling product. Finally, I’ve found my holy grail solution to taming my unruly frizzy curls! I know I sound like an infomercial but holy moly these products work. They REALLY work(in my infomercial voice of course)!
    The Visionary Behind Curl Keeper:
Jonathan Torch, the Master of Curls, as he’s referred to in the industry, is the man behind Curly Hair Solutions that led to the creation of Curl Keeper Styling Collection. He has over 25 years experience with curly hair and has revolutionised how curly hair is cut, styled and cared for. He’s so dedicated to helping people maintain their curly locks that he runs the uber successful Curly Hair Institute on Shepard Avenue West in Toronto. Yes ladies and gents , you read that correctly, there is a salon exclusively for us curly haired peeps! Excuse me as I squeal with excitement!
    The Products:
The package that I received included:

The Curl Keeper Styling Cream is not like any other styling product you have ever used before. It’s not a gel or foaming mousse, it’s a lightweight fluidic styling cream that allows you to manipulate your curls while never drying your hair out, creating frizz or build up on your scalp. The cream has a light aroma and adds some shine to your locks.
Curl Keeper Original is the  recipient of several beauty awards in the industry including 2006 Readers Choice Beauty Award.Curl Keeper Original provides all day frizz control and gives you major curl definition. This product is water based so it’s safe to use everyday and it will not draw out any moisture from your hair or cause build up. As it doesn’t cause build up on your scalp you can re-apply it as many times as you like in a day. On average with CK Original your curls will last 4-5 days and can be reactivated by simply applying water with a spray bottle to your hair.
Curl Keeper Slip, 30 second detangler is a “silicone free detangling leave in conditioner that will instantly loosen hair knots”.
Curl Keeper Leave in Conditioner smooths the hairs that are responsible for causing fly aways. This product is not meant to be washed out and works wonders under high humidity.
    First Impression:
I received the Curl Keeper package early on a Monday morning and I had just woken up. I thought what a great opportunity for me to try the products out right away! I quickly showered, combed my hair and applied all the products while following the directions on the bottle and…was disappointed. Yeah, I know, I wrote earlier that I loved these revolutionary products so what’s with the conflicting statement right? You see , when you are dealing with innovative formula’s such as the Curl Keeper products there comes with it a learning curve. I just assumed because I had been using mousse and gel my whole life along with shampoos, conditioners and detanglers that they all work the same way so they should be applied the same way right? WRONG! To fully benefit from Curl Keeper products you need to watch these very short and extremely helpful tutorials on how to use specific techniques to style your hair so you can achieve maximize results from Curl Keeper.Once I learned and applied these easy techniques I was in love with my hair results!
My hair is very thick, heavy, curly and long (the longest it’s been in years)! My curls have a mind of their own and sometimes they want to curl and other times they want to separate, which is normal for curly hair. I wanted a set of products that allowed me to have control over my curls, reduce my frizz and achieve all day volume
    and hold without the damage.
To achieve these spiral results above, I ONLY used Curl Keeper Original + twirling technique that is mentioned in the tutorials(life changing)!. As a teenager I had crazy spiral curls like these and loved them, however the only way to keep the curls in place all day was to use mousse or gel. It gave me a bit of the results I wanted but also made my hair very crunchy and caused a great deal of build up. Because of the high alcohol content in the mousse and gel my hair became very dry and unfortunately caused me quite a bit of damage. After using Curl Keeper Original + twirling technique I was able to achieve these bouncy well defined curls that lasted all day. I haven’t seen these curls in years!! I was ecstatic. As I had a coffee date with my friends later that night, I decided to loosen some of the curls a bit by separating the bigger ones. The results were beautiful and my friends complimented me endlessly over the curls *blush*! They have always loved my curls but I hadn’t worn my hair curly in so long because of the hassle and time it took to actually achieve the results I wanted. With Curl Keeper products it took me 20 minutes including drying time to achieve these curls. For a mom of 3 this is life changing.
P.S My friends are now CK girls!
This picture above was taken 2 days after the 1st picture in this post. As you can see I did seperate my curls that night to achieve a looser curl. Even on day 3 with no added water to my hair to reactivate the Curl Keeper, my curls still had volume and bounce.
The big waves in this picture were achieved by using Curl Keeper Original + Styling Gel + 30 Sec Detangler + Crunching technique from the tutorials online. I did not add any heat to my hair as I let it air dry. Even without the heat I was able to achieve volume and bounce in my hair.
I’ll leave you with my final impression of the Curl Keeper Collection as I know I can go on and on about these products. I’ve really benefited from CK products because they are so easy and quick to use. I can depend on them to achieve bouncy, healthy lightweight curls without the crunchy texture and without sacrificing volume. I love that the CK Original doesn’t weigh my  hair down. Usually because of the thickness of my hair,  volume boosting products don’t work on me but this was not the case with Curl Keeper. Try these products out for yourself and see the difference in the silicone free formula and quality for yourself. Even if you have a slight curl and want to enhance that, CK will help you achieve envious curls. I strongly suggest you watch the tutorials on the site and experiment with the technique that best suits your curl definition. To continue to see my curls evolve while using Curl Keeper, please follow me on Instagram here. As well I’ve uploaded a short clip of Jonathan Torch, founder of Curl Keeper, demonstrating the Curl Keeper techniques used in his salon on me. It’s on my new Youtube Channel here!
Curl Keeper Styling Collection can be bought from Trade Secrets.

A week after I placed my order on my non prescription sunglasses were shipped. I received the sunglasses,a case, cleaning cloth and a mini screwdriver. The sunglasses were in great condition, no scratches or deformities on them from the shipping process. suggest that you tighten the screws on the sides of the glasses to ensure they fit you best (hence the reason for the mini screw driver)! The aviators are lightweight, sturdy and definitely a step out of my comfort zone but I think they look good and I’ve received many compliments on them.
I’m really pleased with my first experience. I’m also very pleased that has graciously decided to give my first 10 readers a voucher code, makeupblog2, that covers a complete pair of glasses from this page

First Impressions: L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion

I first heard about the True Match Lumi Cushion from my favourite youtube guru, Jaclyn Hill. I don’t usually watch Youtube videos as I don’t have the time , however, on my downtime I enjoy watching her spunky videos. She talked about how much she loved the Lumi Cushion and how it’s actually replaced one of her high end foundations. Of course, I had to try it out for myself!
                                                                 L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion
The Lumi Cushion packaging is rose gold and super glamorous. You know how I love me some good packaging! I have it displayed on my glass vanity and it adds that pop of glam!

For a drugstore foundation I found the $20 price tag a bit steep for the .51 oz product, but I bought it anyway.Lumi Cushion comes in 8 shades. I had a hard time finding the perfect match for my skin tone. I ended up buying Perfect Beige which wasn’t my exact colour but was the closest to my skin tone.
The foundation comes with it’s own “puff” for easy application. I wasn’t too crazy about it at first sight but it’s probably the only tool that will work with this foundation. I tried to use my beauty blender but I felt it absorbed too much of the product. I used my real technique stippling brush but the application looked patchy. I reverted back to the “puff” as it made more sense.I used dabbing motions to apply the foundation. I don’t recommend you swipe the foundation onto your skin as you will see the strip of foundation along your face. The foundation is very buildable. I applied one coat of foundation and loved the dewy finish it gave. I could have stopped there but I decided to add another coat of foundation. Two coats of Lumi Cushion foundation and you are a glowing dewy goddess! I love it! I didn’t feel it left my skin shiny in a way that looked greasy. It added a nice glow to my skin. At first, I didn’t add any setting powder but after a half hour of wear I decided it was best to set the foundation. Even after applying the Laura Mercier setting powder I still noticed my skin had a glow to it. You don’t have to use any setting powder, but I decided it was best because I was going out in the freezing cold 🙂
My final thoughts on the True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation: I still find the $20 price tag a bit high for the .51 oz product. I’m not too thrilled that the best way to apply the foundation is using the “puff” it comes with for sanitary reasons( how do you wash it after a few uses?). The best way to apply the product is by using the “puff” as well as dabbing motions. I hope L’Oreal comes out with more shade ranges. With all that to say, I will be repurchasing the True Match Lumi Cushion foundation as I’ve been wearing it everyday since purchase and have received so many compliments on how luminous my skin looks. Even in the dead of winter, I was able to achieve a glowy complexion from a foundation! L’Oreal, thank you for such a great product 🙂
