Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Foundation Review

Make Up For Ever holds a very special place in my heart!

When I started out in makeup artistry, Make Up For Ever ( MUFE) was the ONLY brand I used in my kit. I had 2-3 of the HD foundation to start, a few loos eyeshadows and 3-4 of their  blushers. I also invested in 2 MUFE brushes and of course I was introduced to the HG of lip gloss, the Glossy Full lip gloss, which I’ve raved about before and to this day still use on myself and clients.

MUFE was kind enough to send me their latest innovative product, the Matte Velvet Skin foundation in shade Y405 Golden Honey and the 108 flat brush, which I already owned because I really am a huge fan of their brushes!

The Matte Velvet foundation comes in 40 shades, is full coverage and is meant to look and feel like your own skin. The launch of this product is huge!

Everyone, including myself, is so excited for the release of Matte Velvet. For me personally it means I get to add more great products from MUFE to my ever growing pro kit! Some brides prefer a matte -velvet finish on their big day and now I can truly deliver their wish.MAKE UP FOR EVER MATTE VELVET SKIN PHOTO

As I mentioned above, the foundation is available in 40 shades ,Y205 Alabaster is the lightest and R560 Chocolate is the darkest. Due to the foundations unique formula the foundation adapts to the movements of your face and resists cracking and caking.
Make Up By Maha Matar wearing MUFE MATTE VELVET FOUNDATION

This is a photo of me wearing the MUFE Matte Velvet Skin foundation in shade Y405.

I love how the foundation matched my skin tone perfectly and how it evened out my skin with just one dollop of the product. It holds up to the medium to full coverage claim as it hid a few blemishes I had really well with just a dime sized dollop. *love*

I realized after I inserted this photo to the post that

#1 there is a glare and lots of sun coming in from the Gondola we were on going up the mountain at Tremblant so my face looks really “bright” but regardless of the extra light coming in, the coverage was flawless!

    and

#2 I had to crop my gorgeous husbands face out fo the photo! He was not impressed with me when I told him he wouldn’t be featured in the post.

I am a bit tan here so Y405 fits me perfectly now, but come winter time I will need one shade lighter. I truly love this foundation because I am not a full matte, full coverage type gal. I prefer a semi-matte finish and this one delivers. It dries matte-velvet so it has a tiny bit of sheen to it.

If you like a dewy finish this foundation is probably  not for you.

I would consider it long wearing as I applied it at 6:08 am and removed it at 11:38 pm and it looked great right till the end. It did seep into my smile lines a tiny bit towards the end of the day but we got rained on and sweated on all day so overall I would say it held up really well and exceeded by expectations.Makeup For Eve 108 Straight Brush

I used the versatile 108 flat brush to apply the Matte Velvet Skin foundation but if you don’t have this brush, don’t worry, you can use any tool. I always use a MUFE brush to apply MUFE foundation. I guess I’m weird that way, but they work well together.

This is a large flat brush used to apply foundation quickly and I use it apply both liquid or cream foundation. I call it a versatile brush because it can be used to apply makeup to the shoulders and décolleté too.

The 108 flat brush is part of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artisan Brushes collection. Each brush passes through 25 production stages and is checked 50 times for quality. I own 4 of the Artisan brushes and they are fantastic. The price is a bit steep but if you are willing to take care of your brushes and wash them regularly then the long term investment is worth it!

I think the saying goes – an artist is only as good as his tools  🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed by blog post.

If you purchase the MUFE Matte Velvet Skin liquid foundation or Artisan  Flat brush please let me know. I love hearing your comments!

    Diamond Sugar Skull

    Happy Halloween !

I don’t usually make a fuss for Halloween as I just don’t have the time to prepare for it.This year I was so inspired by my favourite MUA, Jordan Liberty so I had to recreate one of his looks; the Diamond Sugar Skull!

When I first saw his Sugar Skull photo on Instagram, I was blown away at the artistry so I  knew I had to replicate it. As this is not a tutorial I don’t have step by step instructions but I do list the products I used. If you want to know how to do this look, you can watch Jordan’s youtube video here. He’s super easy to follow !

    Enjoy!

First Impressions: MAKE UP FOR EVER ULTRA HD CONCEALER

The launch of the Make Up Forever HD concealers was for me, the most anticipated makeup launch of 2016. I’ve been using the same brand name concealer now for about a year and I wanted to try something different. If you haven’t noticed already, I have a love for Make Up For Ever products and I couldn’ wait for them to launch their new ULTRA HD concealers.

The ULTRA HD concealer is available in 10 shades:

Color Correct: neutralize dark circles with a peach shade:

    R20: Light Skintones
    R22: Light to Medium Skintones
    R30: Medium Skintones
    R32: Medium to Tan Skintones
    R40: Tan Skintones

Conceal: brighten and awaken undereye area:
    Y21: Light Skintones
    Y23: Light to Medium Skintones
    Y31: Medium Skintones
    Y33: Medium to Tan Skintones
    Y41: Tan Skintones

The concealer is housed in a slender 7ml black circular tube, making this very convenient for travel. I bought the Y31 shade and R30 corrector (at the time I took the photos, I couldn’t find my R30 and may have to repurchase it!).The concealer is very liquidy so be careful when squeezing the tube as you may receive more product than you really need. The formula itself, according to Make Up For Ever, “reflects light to erase shadows and fills & smooths fine lines, and Hyaluronic Spheres help hydrate skin”. I can definitely agree that it does reflect light and hydrates the skin. I have minor fine lines and some dark circles and I did notice the fine lines were considerably less noticeable after application.I found the coverage to be more of a medium coverage and I used my finger to lightly dab a pea sized amount under the eyes. As per usual, I set this concealer with the Laura Mercier translucent powder.

My final thoughts on the MUFE Ultra HD Concealer is that his conceler is going to be in my makeup routine for a very long time! I’ve been using itfor 2 weeks straight and noticed my under eye area always felt hydrated and looked exceptionally bright! I didn’t find my skin to feel cakey after setting with translucent powder. My eye area felt very smooth and hydrated all day. This concealer did not set into my fine lines, even after 6 hours of wear! I would recommend you use a small brush or your fingers to blend the product and not to use a sponge( i.e beauty blender). I found the sponge absorbed a lot of the product quickly. This could be because the formula is liquidy. I also don’t like how the concealer extracts from the tube.I find it a bit messy and at times too much product comes out. It’s a bit of a waste as you only need a pea sized amount to achieve great coverage. Overall, this is a great  product that delivers on it’s promise to give the consumer a well formulated , easy to use product that delivers exceptional coverage and hydration to the under eye area. If you decide to try out the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD concealer, leave a comment below to tell me how you like it 🙂

MY MAKE UP FOR EVER ESSENTALS!

Make Up For Ever (MUFE)is a PRO makeup line aimed at attracting artists in fields such as cinema, cabaret, TV , fashion and dance, but you don’t have to be a professional artist to use and appreciate this iconic brand. Trust me when I say that every make up artist, staring out or a veteran in the industry has a MUFE product in their kit. For my professional kit, I started off buying all MUFE products because I was told, if you wanted to be respected in the industry, you better start working with the right tools right away. Every artist I asked at that time recommended MUFE for their versatile  product options and wide colour ranges in foundations and concealers.I not only picked up a few items for my kit, but I also added many items to my everyday makeup bag. I call these products my essentials because they make makeup application so much easier for me. I’ve become dependant on them and even though some of the products have been around for a while I still ❤ them.

Can you tell I use these palettes a lot!I think I’m on my 2 palette of each.I use them on almost everyone.I have the dark complexion in my personal makeup bag as well as I am obsessed with the orange for correcting my under eyes.

The sculpting blush is a fave of mine! The pigmentation is so strong that you only need to lightly dab the tip of your brush in the compact to pick up a good amount of colour. I’m impressed by the colour range in these sculpting blushes. The colours are very soft almost pastel like and would flatter just about any skin tone.

    //Sculpting Blush,Matte Raspberry Brown//

I’ve been using the Glossy Full Gloss since I was first introduced to it 2 years ago. I like the shine it gives off and it doesnt’ feel sticky on. I don’t say this about a lot of glosses, but this particular one is long wearing. I love to pair nude lipsticks on top of this gloss, it looks really good! Anytime I wear it I get asked “what’s that gloss?”. I don’t know what the technology is behind this gloss, but it’s a great product and a little goes a long way so you definitely get you monies worth.

The original HD foundation was a dream to use and very iconic in the beauty industry. When MUFE announced they were reformulating this product I really didn’t believe it could get better than the original, but it did! This foundation comes in 40 shades, yes you read that correctly,40! You are bound to find your perfect match with such a wide range. I still like the fluidity of this product. I still blend it out with my damp beauty blender as I like the sheer look on me and I find the beauty blender is great in achieving this. I ONLY use 1 pump and that is enough product to cover your whole face. 2 pumps would be ideal if you want a full coverage look. This foundation dries to a satin finish and definitely feels and looks natural on the face. I use the HD foundation in my personal makeup bag and professional kit. I use it on clients with normal to slightly dry skin. I don’t use this on oily or very dry skin as I find it further dries the skin.

The SENS’ EYES cleanser is the ONLY product I use to remove waterproof makeup. I don’t have to tug at my skin to remove the makeup as this works quickly and efficiently. I dab a bit of the liquid on to a cotton pad and with one swipe my eye and lip makeup is gone!. Again, like so many other MUFE products, a little goes a long way. The bottle I have is only 30ML and it’s lasted me about 6 months.

The HD face Primer pictured is my favourite high end primer. I have so many of these tubes in my kit as I use it on everyone ! When I like a product, I LIKE a product :).This HD primer has a lightweight  yet silky texture, almost comparable to Benefits Porefessional face primer. This primer adds a nice glow to dull complexion and I feel on some people it corrects uneven skin tone. Sometimes I love wearing it alone, after moisturizing just because it adds a nice shine. MUFE doesn’t produce this specific primer any longer as it’s been replaced by STEP 1 SKIN EQUALIZER line. Stay tuned for a dedicated post on the STEP 1 line!

I have so many MUFE products on my list to buy and try out including the STEP 1 Primers , HD Face Sculpting kit,PRO Sculpting Duo,and the Ultra HD Concealer! Of course, you will be able to read my full review on these products soon 🙂
